Discover Worlds Within
The Rubin Museum of Art holds one of the world’s most important collections of art from the countries and cultures of the Himalayas, including Tibet, Nepal, Mongolia, and Bhutan. The museum’s exhibitions also include works from the larger Himalayan cultural sphere, such as India, Pakistan, China, Central Asia, and Southeast Asia. The Rubin Museum’s serene atmosphere provides visitors with an uncommon opportunity to experience some of the finest examples of Himalayan paintings, sculpture, textiles, ritual objects, and prints from the second century to the present.
The museum’s extensive public programming offers opportunities for cross-cultural exploration through films, talks, music, and dance. Interactive educational resources, such as scavenger hunts, artifacts, and computer terminals, can be found on each gallery floor. Guides are available for questions and tours.
Experience the tastes and textures of the Himalayas when you visit the Shop and Café @ RMA. The Shop is home to beautiful jewelry, exhibition catalogues, books, stationary, clothing and accessories. The Café features a selection of Himalayan-inspired lunch entrées, snacks, and beverages created by consulting chef Vikas Khanna.
