Welcome to Serai
The museum welcomes you to Café Serai and The Shop. Serai takes its name from the overnight stopovers for caravans along trade routes like the Silk Road, where travelers could eat, drink, and purchase or trade goods for their journeys. Serai is a place for lingering, relaxing, and enjoying a carefully curated shopping and culinary experience.
We searched the Himalayas to assemble some of the region’s finest artisanal goods for Serai, including hand-woven textiles, jewelry, home items, gifts for children, and rare finds never before available in the United States. Those familiar with the museum’s previous inventory of Himalayan and related goods will be surprised by new additions such as spices, teas, and Lama Chodpa incenses from the Nub Gong Monastery.
Continue to stimulate your senses with the sights, aromas, and tastes of the museum's dining experience at Café Serai. With an enticing menu created by STARR Restaurants Catering Group, the multi-concept hospitality company behind Buddakan and Morimoto, Serai is sure to offer something special for every palate, from Malabar Shrimp Curry to Shahi Chicken Korma.
Serai is open to the public and does not require a museum admission ticket.
